2010 has been one of those years, you know. The year I saw one of the best remakes ever, the year I saw Leonardo Dicaprio in two epic movies with performances that will keep you in awe. Horrorfest IV had the usual eight great horror movies that TBHM fans crave, yes they were all equally unique and demented. We had some very original takes in psychological terror for example "Black Swan" and "Shutter Island", some zombie and natural disaster movies like "The Crazies", "Altitude" and "Frozen" and most importantly they delighted us with some of the best of the three levels of horror. They had some of the most disturbing supernatural movies like "Case 39", "The Last Exorcism", some hilariously funny and gruesome horror-comedy like "Doghouse" and many Slasher remakes worth our viewing like "A nightmare on Elm Street" and "I Spit on your grave". Lastly, Since that year also marked my thirtieth birthday, so I will grace you guys with my thirty top horror movies of 2010 instead of my usual top ten. I know I am not a big fan of sequels but this story is contagious. I could not stop myself from wanting to go watch it and also I wanted to see what Wentworth Miller and Boris Kodjoe were up to in this movie. I love the cast so I had to watch it when it came out on DVD of course. The Story follows Alice escaping from Albert Wesker, the undying antagonist since the beginning of this franchise. Alice sets out to find her friends Claire (Ali Larter) and K-mart (Spencer Locke) along her journey to find her friends and rescue survivors from the T-Virus she meets other survivors who are willing to fight the Umbrella corportation by-products by any means necessary. This movie is not your typical slasher movie...ahhh. Yes, it is in some level. 16 years earlier the town of Riverton, Massachussets was plagued by a serial killer who had stabbed to death seven teenagers. Once Abel, a father of two, feels he might be the one committing these horrible crimes since he has a dissociate identity disorder that he has been keeping from his family, he calls his doctor with his suspiscion; whom called the cops after their conversation. As the cops and the doctor enter the house they find Abel's wife stabbed and the killer trying to kill his own daughter, Leah. In present time, Bug, whom we find out later, is the serial killer's surviving son, has five friends that mysteriously got killed by the ripper. Bug's sister Leah, tells him about their father's criminal past and Bug decides to ensure the ripper is no more even if that means ending his own life in the process.
Twenty six men are picked to role play guards and prisoners in a psychological study. Things get ugly when these men start to take their roles too seriously.

Although, it's mostly fantasy, and should not even be added on this list since its release date is not until March of 2011. But I have seen it thanks to where I am currently in the world and I loved it because it gave me that "Vanilla Sky" vibe and frankly I am a sucker for these types of movies. Hopefully as soon as it hits theaters, you guys would go and watch it if not for the storyline then go for the eye candy.
This is a remake of a 1970 slasher with the same name. It follows two friends played by Odette Yustman and Amber Heard traveling through Argentina and making a turn for the worse when one of them dissapears while sleeping by the lake. This movie revisits the human trafficking problem in these Countries where Americans are always targetted. Most especially American women.
This is a science-fiction horror movie about a couple who happens to be renowned scientists. Their latest breakthrough is the next best thing as far as new inventions are concerned in the scientific world. However, this couple is not satisfied with their level of achievements they feel there is so much more they could do with their breakthrough but their boss think it would be considered taboo. So what are two equally ambitious scientists to do when they are told not to push too hard against nature? Well, you got to see it to believe it.
If you are looking for a happy ending don't watch this movie, if you are looking for something new and different definitely make this movie your own today. This movie deals with a very common issue when someone is living their life in their mind rather than being active in this life, in this world. Nonetheless, it's even sadder when they find happiness in fantasy rather than reality. This movie will hit a spot, you never imagined was there to begin with.
This is a remake of the 1984 film with better special effects and a somewhat more pedophile-looking Freddy Krueger. This film goes more into details about Freddy before he became the slasher of Springfield. The victims were beautifully projected by some very adept up and coming young actors. Lately, We have seen Jackie Earle Haley (Freddy) in similar movie roles, I guess when the writers thought about a pedophile this time around, his face came probably to mind. But Mr. Haley definitely delivers as this unassuming yet crazed child molester.

This futuristic vampire tale is very unique in certain aspects. I really liked the way they used infomercials within the movie to convince us about the vampire race being the ruling race and that humans are being harvested for blood around the world to feed vampires. This movie keeps the door open on how many different ways a vampire can be cured of vampirism and become human once again. But some vampires feel so powerful being so would they ever want to give that up?
After.Life is not your typical tale about the afterlife but more precisely about the life being lived right now. This premise has an ambiguous vibe. You cannot tell if Anna played by Christina Ricci was in fact dead the whole time or incapacited to mimic death. This funeral director played by Liam Neeson is your average demented foe lurking around and will go to so many lengths to convince himself that he is actually helping humanity by sending you to your grave sooner than you could ever think possible all the while making you feel that you are actually in between life and death.
Legion is an end of days supernatural flick visiting angels and archangels falling from the sky fighting among themselves to end and save humanity as their idealogies and beliefs differ immensely about the human race.

This remake is not so different from the 1941 original until the second half of the movie. This recounts the story of a father and his two sons and the woman that these three men were lusting for which inevitably cost them all their lives directly and indirectly by the hands of this beast.
This is a movie about a house invasion. When a couple decide to sell their home after a divorce, they hold a successful open house. Couple days later, they discover that one of their potential buyers has never left their home.
Jennifer Hills is a writer, she books for a couple of days a cabin in the woods so she can complete her latest book. She runs into some trouble at a gas station/convenient store with some delinquent townsfolks but she settles the score and gets to her cabin safely. Unbeknownst to her, she has been under constant watch since the night she arrived to her cabin. After their term of voyeurism wears off, the towns' most available bachelors decide to go for the real thing by breaking into her cabin, taunting her, and forcing her to perform blowjobs on various penis-shaped objects. Fortunately, she escapes and runs into the woods to find the town's sheriff. Relieved to find him, she brings him to her cabin so he can arrest these invalids. Only if she had seen the Texas Chainsaw Massacre installments, she would have known better. No spoilers, you will have to watch the movie to see the scenes that followed as they were very cruel, raw and graphic. A must-watch for men and women alike if you are truly a fan of horror!

Summary
Five friends on plane ride to a concert will eventually learn that sometimes driving may be better than flying. As the main characters acknowledge that this was not their first plane ride that ended up in a disaster. Will it be too late to fix the past? As bizarre as it may sound, oftentimes the present life may have lessons for your past and future life.
Ryan Reynolds portrays US truck driver Paul Conroy who awakens to find himself buried in a coffin with only a lighter and a blackberry in his possession. He attempts to remember how he got there and soon remembers there was an ambush and his fellow truck drivers were killed and he was kidnapped. Fortunately, he also remembers his employer and his wife numbers whom he phones but only to catch their voicemail to which he leaves messages. His suspicion of being kidnapped is confirmed when he is contacted by the kidnapper who demands $5 million at first and lowers the ransom to $1 million which he does not have. This film hits so close to home. It was brilliantly performed by Ryan Reynolds and the ending to this premise will twist your world like you would never believe.
Five people are trapped in an elevator and one by one they start to get killed off. By whom is truly the question since whenever they grow suspicious of who may be the culprit, the suspected one is the next to die.
The original scared the little girl out of me, but then again I was only 9. This remake is fun and throws some scares at you throughout the whole movie. It follows the same storyline where a group of friends attend a halloween party at a mansion held by their friend Angela and from there all hell breaks loose literally.
Casey Affleck portrays Lou Ford a West Texas deputy Sheriff and serial killer. When he first started out his killing spree in his teens his adopted brother took the blame for him. Now his demons are resurfacing and his violent, cruel killing side will shift to first gear and there won't be no turning back.
Lillith Sullivan is this 10 year old girl whose parents are abusive and neglectful towards her. At least, that's what we are led to believe until social worker Emily Jenkins played by Renee Zellweger starts to experience the true side of Lillith and it's definitely not pretty. She feeds off your feelings and your emotions as she terrorizes the hell out of you. Case 39 could surely be the supernatural horror of 2010 with so many very unique graphic kills to call its own.

Sometimes when you have to bribe your way to something you will inevitably have to pay the full price somewhere down the line. These three friends Parker (Emma Bell), Joe (Shawn Ashmore) and Dan (Kevin Zegers) decide to spend their Sunday at a ski resort but they don't want to pay full price for the ski lift tickets, they get Parker to go bribe one of the Sky Resort attendants so they can all have some fun up there. However, the attendant gets replaced and the new attendant shut the place down at night fall as reports of a storm approaching surfaced not knowing that these three were still riding the ski lift. The ski resort is closed on weekdays, and there is a storm approaching with that in mind, the three friends start to fear for their lives as they are stuck in the ski lift way up above the ground. If nature does not finish them off, they will eventually hurt themselves trying to survive. But did they deserve this?
The Crazies is a remake of the 1973 film of the same name by George A. Romero. This film is highly disturbing as some of the scenes are so raw and imaginative. It follows the same storyline as the original about military biological weaponry that is accidentally infecting the residents of a small town resulting in only few survivors... well two since the military is trying to cover up their screw up.

Summary
This movie fascinated me because I always wonder about these chain letters. I ignore them most of the time but sometimes the title sounds so interesting I want to open it and read it to its entirety and at the end of it where it says "forward this to seven people or you will die in seven days" or something similar to this, I laugh at it and some other times I wonder, could they really hunt me down and kill me just because I chose not to forward this ridiculous email to my most beloved friends? Well, this movie says it will happen, it's you or them, who will you choose?
Natalie Portman's projections of both the white and the black swan were spectacular. She really engaged the audience to try to empathize with her state of mind. Is she unstable or is her understudy played by Mila Kunis messing with her? Those are some questions that will rise up as you start watching this film. I loved the tension between Nina (Natalie Portman) and Lily (Mila Kunis), the passion that became an obssession, and Nina's delusional, demented and downright narcissistic behavior.

This film had a budget of $80 million and banked $294,803,014 million in revenue for 2010. That's just to tell you how much of an effect this premise had on the audience. Leonardo Dicaprio's performance blew me away, he had me tipping toeing throughout the whole movie. I couldn't tell what was real, who was real and who was telling the truth. This movie is the biggest mind fuck of the century. I watched this film when it first came out in theaters back in February 2010 with my friend Alicia, we were so amazed by the storyline and the performances of the whole cast, that we bought two more tickets for another showing. That's how much of an impact it had on us.

I loved Frida (Janette Armand) as she had to fight off not only zombies but also Joe (Russell Hodgekinson) who happens to be the biggest terrorist as he feels Frida is a terrorist just because of her race and starts to attack her, nails her to a chair in his basement and questions her about US History. This movie had so many laughs in it, for instance, the gay couple Lance (Cooper Hopkins) and Tom (Doug Fahl) that Reverend Haggis (Bill Johns) tried to turn into straights with the help of ironically gay erotic films. They explore a different side of bio-hazards turning innocent townies into zombies, this time it's not the military fucking up and accidentally infecting them with this stuff, Port Gamble residents are actually under attack by a terrorist group using biological weaponry of mass destruction.

After all, she did not invite these men to invade her home and her holes...they just felt men enough to try and conquer her body but she also ensured they were men enough to take it like men. I loved the way she projected the character and her revenge scenes were so originally horrifying. Even if you are not a prude, you will still find yourself blushing or hiding from behind your own hand in disgust. This role will definitely guarantee her a place in the horror movie industry.
